"This is a tremendous opportunity for the D-League to showcase the athleticism that is prevalent across the league," Lieberman said. "With the All-Star game in Dallas, it is a perfect opportunity for the people of the Metroplex to not only see great NBA talent, but also that of the D-League."
FRISCO, February 10, 2010 – NBA D-League Frisco head coach, Nancy Lieberman, will take the court once more as a player on Friday. This time, she has five-time NBA All-Star Alonzo Mourning as her coach. Lieberman and Mourning highlight the 2010 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game and will be joined by Hall-of-Famer Magic Johnson, Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban, and actor Chris Tucker.
"I have played in the NBA All-Star Celebrity game before, and it is a wonderful experience," Lieberman commented. "I look forward to being on the same court as these celebrities who love hoops."
FRISCO, February 9, 2010 – The shortest NBA Slam Dunk Contest winner in history will return to the stage of his victory this year as NBA D-League Frisco President of Basketball Operations, Spud Webb judges the 2010 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest.
In 1986, Webb, all 5-foot-6 of him, shocked the basketball world by defeating Atlanta Hawks teammate and defending Dunk Contest champion Dominique Wilkins, standing at 6-foot-8, with a dazzling array of dunks.

His amazing story began on July 13, 1963, when Anthony "Spud" Webb was born in Dallas, Texas. Living in a small, three-bedroom home with his parents and five brothers and sisters, Webb began playing basketball at an early age and dreamed of being in the NBA. Although he was much smaller, he could always jump higher than the bigger kids.
One day after trying countless times to dunk, the skinny teenager grabbed a basketball and started running towards the basket. He soared into the air, cleared the ground by more than four feet and dunked the basketball through the hoop with two hands. Those who witnessed Spud's dunk that day realized that he was a special basketball player.
Spud tried out for his junior high school team, however he was told to sit in the stands because he was too small. It wouldn't be the last time that he was denied a chance to succeed because of his height. One day Spud finally convinced his coach to let him play and he scored 20 points in his first game.
