TULSA FALLS SHORT TO TEXAS IN SHOWCASE OPENER

RENO, Nev., Jan. 10, 2012— Dwight Buycks came off the bench to tally a team-high 21 points, Jerome Dyson scored 20 and Nkem Ojougboh blocked a season-high seven shots, but the Tulsa 66ers (9-8) fell short to the Texas Legends (6-12) by a 94-86 final score Tuesday evening to open the 2012 NBA D-League Showcase inside the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nev.

Also scoring in double figures for the 66ers was Larry Owens with 18 points, 15 of which came in the first half. Owens also added seven rebounds, including three offensive, and two blocked shots.

Marcus Lewis led Tulsa in rebounding with 11 boards and also added nine points. The forward entered the game leading the NBA D-League in rebounding with 14.2 boards per game.

Dyson, Owens and Robert Vaden each recorded three assists to lead the 66ers on the offensive end.

Leading Texas was Booker Woodfox with a game-high 22 points. Ramon Dyer added the game’s only double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The 66ers return to action at the Showcase with a contest against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Thursday, Jan. 12, at 2:45 p.m. CT. The game inside the Reno Events Center is scheduled to be aired live on NBATV.
